Deep Roots

What seems forgotten may not be lost
For the forsaken, help comes hither
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not touched by the frost

From the Root of Jesse a shoot will grow
A Tree of Life come from the agéd root
To blossom and fill the world with fruit
Feeding all who take shelter below

Despised, without beauty or majesty
Battered, scarred, and blood-stained
By His Father's will only is He sustained
Indomitable stands the Root of Jesse
